Effective October 27, 2026
OffTrail is a training app for runners. This policy explains what the app stores, where, and what we can and can't see. The short version: your runs and health data stay on your device and in your own iCloud; our servers hold your account and your intake answers; we don't sell data and we don't run ads.
When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive a user identifier, your email address (or Apple's private relay address if you chose to hide it) and, on first sign-in, your name. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google LLC).
During setup you tell us about your running (experience, weekly volume, goal race, availability) or, for coaches, your coaching methodology. These answers are stored in our database (Google Cloud Firestore, United States) under your account so plans and coach matching can use them. You can change them in the app at any time.
Logged runs, imported FIT files, GPS routes, training plans and your profile are stored on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account (CloudKit private database). We cannot read your iCloud data. If you turn off iCloud for OffTrail, it stays on the device only.
With your permission OffTrail reads running workouts, heart rate, resting heart rate, weight and date of birth from Apple Health, and can write runs you log back to Health. Health data is used only on your device and in your iCloud. It is never sent to our servers, never used for advertising, and never shared with third parties, in line with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.
OffTrail Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes payment; we receive only an anonymised entitlement that says whether a subscription is active. We never see your card details.
If you link to a coach by invite code or matching, that coach can see your intake answers, your plan and your compliance with it. You can unlink at any time under More → Coaching, after which they lose access to future data.
The OffTrail community runs on Discord, which is a separate service with its own privacy policy. Nothing from the app is posted there automatically.
In the app, More → Account → Delete account removes your account and intake answers from our servers immediately. Runs, plans and routes in your iCloud are yours; delete them in the app or remove OffTrail's data under Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage. You can also email us at the address below and we'll delete your server-side data within 30 days.
OffTrail is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes in a way that matters we'll say so in the app before it takes effect. The effective date at the top is the version you're reading.
